How Display Refresh Rate Works
Why Is My 144Hz/240Hz Monitor Showing 60Hz?
By default, both Windows and macOS often set high-refresh-rate displays to 60Hz. Open Windows Settings > Display > Advanced Display > Choose a refresh rate, or on macOS go to Displays > Refresh Rate and select 144Hz or ProMotion 120Hz. Also verify you are using DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0/2.1 cables.
Browser Frame Limiting (Hardware Acceleration)
Ensure "Hardware Acceleration" is enabled in your browser settings (Chrome / Edge / Firefox / Safari). Without hardware acceleration, browsers may cap animation frames to 60 FPS regardless of your monitor's native refresh rate.
